Unrequited Love
Friday, September 7th, 2007Unrequited love is a hard thing I am so glad I don’t have to deal with anymore. It can bring you to the highest highs, but it is more often soul-crushing and depressing.
If you would like to read a response to the prompt, check out Amanda’s response. (If you respond to prompts, let me know and I’ll link to you in a post.)
To read about the biggest unrequited love of my life, you’ll have to buy Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: High School - The Real Deal and find the story “You Always Remember the First”.
I can tell you a bit about the story, though.
When I got into high school band as a freshman, I met a junior named David. I tried to ignore him for the first day, but he was sweet and grew on me. He carried my bass drum when I was tired. He made me laugh. He was nice to me.
I fell for him hard and fast and kept the crush going for the next two years.
The rest of the story is in the book. And now I’m in Australia and married to the man I was truly meant for.
However, there is something that’s not in the book:
Earlier this year, David had and epileptic seizure and died. Many of my friends emailed me because of how I used to feel about him. Needless to say I didn’t feel the same way, but I was truly saddened. He was a bright soul and should have had more time on this world.
David Michael Hill, rest in peace.
