Money, Money, Money

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

money.jpgI have already asked you to write about someone who is special to you. Is that person special enough to you for you to change their world for the better?

It seems like everything always changes with money. How much you have or lack seems to change so much in life. And if your circumstances change dramatically within your lifetime, well that just makes things even more confusing.

These days, $10,000 doesn’t seem like that much. I am in debt over double that for student loans alone. However, having that much would still make a big difference in my life.

If you had $10,000 that you had to give away, who would you give it to? (And no cheating by giving it to your spouse because that is too easy of a choice and it stays in your household.)

Impulsive

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

corpsebride.jpgAh, we are almost half way through the month, and what do we have to show for it?

Nearly half a month of posts.

Yes, I know. Hilarious.

I rather like giving out these blogging prompts, to be honest. It is fun and I think a lot more about my posts as well.

Today’s prompt should be a bit fun for you: If you could do one impulsive thing – anything at all – right now, what would it be?

Don’t think about work or cleaning, or whatnot; this is supposed to be impulsive. It doesn’t matter if the ‘thing’ lasts five minutes or five years either. Your only limit is your imagination. So…

If you could do one anything, what would you be willing to drop everything to do?

Why do You Blog?

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

nablo07120×240.jpgNational Blog Posting Month is a fun way to explore new blogs and find new friends. You can join communities and make new friends while challenging yourself to complete something you may have never done before.

At the very root of all this, though, is blogging, and today’s prompt is a question to get you to explore your blogging roots.

Why do you blog?

You can talk about when you started, where you started, why you started, and for whom you started… (Even if, like me, you got into it by accident.) Make sure you talk about why you are blogging now, though. What made you blog today and why will you blog tomorrow?

Have fun exploring your beginnings and taking a few minutes to write about where you would like to be.

Blogger at Work

Monday, November 12th, 2007

shower.jpg(I’m sick of my regular titles. Blah.)

It’s another Monday morning in blog land, and I am not blogging! Yay for being able to post to the future. I swear that is my favourite blog feature. Evar.

I’m not sure why I’m straying into the teen lingo or whatever it is. I think I’ve been reading too much Questionable Content.

Today is another day for you to talk about you and let your readers get to know you a bit. Today’s bit of you-goodness? Work.

So what is it that you do, anyway? Is it what you want to do? Is it just to get by? Or are you working for the better of humanity (an at-home parent) and don’t earn a monetary pay check?

Tell us all about the job you think of when you hear the song “Workin’ in a Coal Mine”.

Going down, down, down…

I Kill Fish - NaBloPoMotivation

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

plant.jpgI kill fish. I also kill plants. I’ve never tried taking care of a bird. Dead fish are hard enough to handle.

With plants and fish, that’s where I fail in life utterly and horribly. Delight in my failure if you want, just as long as you don’t try telling me, “But…but it’s so easy to take care of a fish.”

Don’t you think I’ve heard that one before?

There’s nothing quite like failing at something completely to get lurkers on your blog to come out and comment. Whether they laugh at you or sympathize with you is another matter completely.

Today I ask you to explore what you’re bad at. Can’t cook? Unable to be the parent to hold the kid the moment s/he starts vomiting?

Tell the world.

There are a lot of things that can give away someone’s personality. From the way you eat your brekkie to the way you dance, you’re constantly giving people subconscious clues to the kind of person you are.

Today, make it easy for people to get to know you.

Show off your favourites by hopping on YouTube and finding your favourite music videos. It’s amazing what you can find on YouTube these days – even the classics. Take some time to cruise around and post what you like.

Even if your blog host doesn’t support videos very well, you can still link to the videos and post up the lyrics.

Give people a quick 101 to your music favourites and maybe even surprise some of the people in your life who thought they knew you.

As many people can and probably will tell you, I’m one of those people who tends to use the “when I rule the world…” statement followed by something odd like making where you write the return address on envelopes universal. (Where Australians put it, I have discovered, is different to where Americans put it. Strange.)

I also know dozens of people who have said a sentence starting with those very same words. “When I rule the world, idiot drivers will immediately lose their licenses.”

It’s fun to imagine what it would be like to have the power to make the world into a better place. For people and people like you, anyway.

What small things would you do to make the world a lovelier place if you ruled the world?

writing-pad.jpgDay eight of NaBloPoMo has dawned…hours ago. Hehe.

I’m having surprisingly little trouble keeping up posting every day on here, Fiction Scribe, and my personal blog. I rather like doing this on my personal blog. I’m not used to being so conscious of making sure I post every day.

For today’s inspiration, why not try posting not about yourself or your life but about someone in your life. Your best friend, your mom, your brother… Pick someone you consider special and tell the world about him/her.

microphone.jpgDo you really get annoyed by all the spam emails trying to entice you to enlarge your penis with their miracle pill?

Or how about idiot drivers, parents, teens, teachers, doctors, writers, bloggers, media…

Do you see where I’m going with this?

Dear NaBloPoMo participants, today is the day you address your public. (Or simply the annoying little idiots who think I, a female, would be interesting in increasing my cock size.)

Write a letter to someone, a group of people, or even the world if you like. It doesn’t have to be a rant – in fact, it can be a thank-you – but make it a letter you feel at least a little something about.

Have fun with it.

And if you want something to rant about, Lyndsey is not happy over at Lez Keep It Real and might provide some inspiration…

heartsand.jpgHello and welcome to day six of NaBloPoMo. I hope you’ve been finding my prompts useful to give you something to blog about if you’re a bit stuck on occasion.

Today’s blog prompt is cheating a little bit. Not cheating at NaBloPoMo, but cheating in that I am doing two things at once.

For those of you who don’t know, I also write over at Long Relationships. Over there I’ve started something called “Our Story” where readers can post up the stories behind their long relationships. Even with a picture of you and your significant other, if you so choose.

Today, blog about your significant other. How you met, your marriage (if you’re married), your ups and downs… Use this time to appreciate the special person in your life.

If you’re not currently with someone, you could talk about what kind of person you would like to meet. Or if you don’t care to be with someone, blog about what you would like your life to be like in the future.

Have fun. And if you do write those stories and would like them to go up on Long Relationships, let me know.

money.jpgToday’s blogging inspiration is brought to you, in part, by the one and only lovely lady Allison over on Reality on Bravo.

In this post, Allison talks about three and four million dollar homes in Orange County, California. These houses include many bedrooms, pools, hot tubs, libraries, home theatres, big garages, fireplaces, and all kinds of other fun stuff.

If only we could all afford such luxury, eh? It would take many, many years of saving and, well, not paying rent, paying bills, etc before my husband and I could afford something like that. Then again, there is no harm in dreaming, is there? It can be a lot of fun, too.

If you could build a dream house with no budget, what would you include?

coffee-cup.jpgWelcome to day four of NaBloPoMo! How are you liking it so far? Are you posting just as much as you used to or more than you used to?

Today’s question to inspire you comes not only from my own crappy weekend, but from a post made by Really Ginny.

There’s nothing quite like being ill that helps you to remember what truly comforts you. Be it a favourite blanket, a hot bath, or simply crashing out in front of the television, our creature comforts can sometimes be the only things that seem to get us through the day (ill or not).

So what comforts you? What are your indulgences – secret or not – that make you sigh with pleasure? Food, objects, actions like a long run or walk, playing with the kids…

What are your comforts?

Hello everyone. It’s day three of the November blogathon. How are you doing? Do you still have the enthusiasm you had at the start, or are you ‘over it’ already?

Today’s prompt for your blogging pleasure is for you to have a little fun and explore a bit of fantasy.

I have a question for you…

If you could have any possible superpower – only one – which one would it be?

Try to use your imagination and be unique. Sure invisibility would be fun, but how cool would the power Automatic Toast be? (This is a question not to be answered by people who don’t like toast.)

Explore your childhood fantasies and have fun! You’re a superhero (or villain) now…

big-word-game.jpgOkay, day one is over, so what do you post about now?

What made you think you could hold up at least a post a day? Is your life that interesting? Oh, lord, not the doubts. On day two! No, not the doubt!

But what’s this? Prompts? Someone who gives me an idea for something to write about? Hallelujah!

Okay, so I don’t think you’re quite that desperate for my help (except in my fantasies maybe) but I am here to help if you ever get stuck, or if you, like Ms. Zoot, are shooting for more than one post a day.

Today I have a few ideas for you. Some questions to answer. Use one, use them all, it doesn’t matter. Please let me know if you use them, because I’d love to read your response posts.

Now for the questions…

Why did you get involved in NaBloPoMo? Is this your first year? How did you hear about it?

Check out the prize list. If you could have any one prize, which one would it be? Why? If it’s one of the gift cards, what would you use it on? If you could donate one gift to the prize list – keeping in mind you can’t win it – what would it be and why?

How many groups are you a member of (if any) on the NaBlo site? Which groups? Why did you join the groups you did? (As in, are you a group addict like me?)

Now go off and be bloggy! Enjoy!

nablo07120×240.jpgReady, set, go!

Or keep going if you have already started…

NaBloPoMo participants, welcome to your very first installment of NaBloPoMo inspiration. Every day I will post up a little something for NaBlo participants in the hopes of inspiring them, encouraging them, giving them material to write about or anything else I can do to help people to keep blogging!

A lot of us blog, but every day? No days off, no sick days, nothing?

Welcome to the fun and insanity of it all.

Every day I will be posting a prompt (or two or three if the mood suits) here for people to blog about. Not only will you get inspiration for your post, I will achieve my one post a day for this blog.

Ah, the genius of it all.

Good luck everyone!

Be sure to link to your posts in the comments if you post something based one of my prompts. I’d love to check it out.
