Thirteen Writing Prompts
Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Hello and happy Thursday Thirteen everyone!
This week’s Thursday Thirteen prompts are going to continue on with prompts, questions, first lines, and other inspiration to help you get writing.
If there is another prompt you think would be helpful, be sure to let me know in the comments or by using the ‘contact me’ button under the site description.
1. Listen to your favourite mix tape, CD, music video, etc and see where the music takes you…
2. “The pulse is beating so strongly.”
3. Go through some poetry books and find one that inspires you to write a short story.
4. Watch a ‘behind the scenes’ feature for something (anything) and use that to help inspire some free writing.
5. Write a scene with one character and then rewrite that scene with two (or more characters).
6. “I really have no idea what to tell you.”
7. Remember a time in your life when you were extremely tired but had to keep going anyway…
8. Find some of your parent’s music or look up the music from the year you were born. Who knows what might inspire you…
9. “Bloody good!”
10. Think of a time in your life when you were extremely relieved…
11. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who does/deals with something you have never dealt with. Write about your ‘experiences’.
12. “Well you have an overactive imagination because there just isn’t any.”
13. Go somewhere different today and let the new surroundings inspire you.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!
