Musical Monday - Amanda Marshall
This weekend went too fast! I think we should get another day of weekend. Or maybe just give us all a week off. What do you think?
Pout, pout, pout.
Okay, now that’s out of my system… (Hehe.)
My friend Hawke gets the credit for introducing me to this week’s Musical Monday artist: Amanda Marshall
According to Wikipedia:
“Amanda Marshall (born August 29, 1972 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian pop-rock singer.
Marshall studied music extensively in childhood, including at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. While performing on the Queen Street West bar scene in her teens, she met guitarist Jeff Healey, who was struck by her powerful voice and took her on tour. She was offered a record deal by Columbia Records in 1991, but chose to wait a few years before releasing her debut album.
She grew up in Toronto in a biracial family to a Caucasian father and a Caribbean-Canadian mother. In several of her songs, Marshall has reflected on her racial identity “as a woman who looks white but is also half-black”.”
I hope you enjoy her music and find it inspirational for your writing.
Everybody’s Got A Story
Trust Me (This is Love)
Like I said, there are a lot more songs out there, so do some hunting! I hope you find this music inspirational.
If you have any suggestions for singers or bands you’d like to see featured, let me know in the comments. I won’t promise to put all selections up, but I do promise to take a look.
Take care.
