Velvet Verbosity’s 100 Words

by JM

100-word-challenge.jpgHello everyone!

I don’t usually post on Saturdays here, but in an effort to bring something new and different to this site, I am participating in Velvet Verbosity’s 100 Words prompt.

If you read me over at Fiction Scribe, this will be a repeat (not all weeks – I’m hoping to write two different things when I can) so you’ll have to forgive me for the repeat. I am doing it because this is one of the few writing prompts I truly enjoy, and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

If you choose to participate, please leave a comment with a link to your submission here as well as on the Velvet Verbosity site so we can all see what you’ve written. It’s a lot of fun and there is a great group of people who participate every week, and we’d love it if you’d join in.

This week’s one word prompt is HOUR.

Enjoy…

An hour. One whole hour.

What possessed me? How could I have so, so easily signed over my mind – my soul! – to another being. I was and am naïve to think that such a thing could possibly be good. Could possibly give me some sort of shred of decency or goodness to make this torture worthwhile.

“Mr. Talbert.”

Have I gone mad?

“Mr. Talbert?”

I look up. Could it be? Has an hour passed so soon?

The receptionist smiles. “The doctor is ready.”

Mr. Alberts walks out right on time. “Welcome, Mr. Talbert. I see you got here early today.”
